Going somewhere new has always brought me joy. My favorite places to visit is anywhere that broadens my appreciation of others and how they live. Growing up my parents intentionally exposed us suburbia siblings to others. I was only 5 years old when the Vietnamese refugee families lived with us. Grade school when my dad encouraged me to make friends regardless of how rich or poor they were. In High School I did several mission trips including an Orphanage in Ensenada, Mexico and a Native American project. In corporate, I volunteered to travel to work in the call centers on the U.S. Mexican border. All of these experiences top any trip I took to Disneyland or a resort. They fill my heart with joy.
The rules for this 20-20 goal.
I'm keeping this one simple. If I go to a location I've never been, it counts. From a neighborhood coffee shop to an African safari, it all counts.
